On Yom Kippur, Saturday, September 22, 2007, please bring food donations to the  synagogue for the Sacramento Food Bank.

Sierra Arden Food Closet:  Members of the social action committee volunteer at the Sierra Arden Food Closet, located in the Sierra Arden United Church of Christ at the corner of Morse and Northrop Avenues, on the third Thursday of the month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact Norm or Phyllis Jacobs at (916)966-8452 or pnjacobs@sbcglobal.net.

Volunteer at Loaves and Fishes - Saturday, August 11, 2007 Posted By: admin
The Jewish community's volunteer day at Loaves and Fishes is the third Monday of each month.  From 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. is food preparation; from 11am - 1:30 p.m. is food serving.  Loaves and Fishes is located at 1321 North C Street, Sacramento. There is parking available near the kitchen. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes.  No need to call ahead, just arrive at the dining room on North C Street to help.

Food Donations - Saturday, August 11, 2007 Posted By: admin
Every time you come to the synagogue, please bring a food donation . Place your donations in the wicker basket located outside the sanctuary. We will donate the food to the Sierra Arden Neighborhood Food Closet and other local food banks. The best non-perishable, nutritious donations include:
  • Canned meats and fish, including tuna and salmon
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Powdered milk
  • Boxed Macaroni and cheese, rice, beans, ramen and pasta dishes
  • Peanut butter
  • Hot and cold boxed cereals
  • Baby cereal and baby food
