Beth Shalom brings in special speakers to address the congregation every second Friday of the month.  Here's a list of upcoming speakers:
 
October 9
James Goldstene—”The Air We Breathe”
The Executive Director of the Air Resources Board will discuss the latest news regarding implementation of air quality and greenhouse gas reduction laws.
 
November 13
Andrew McLeod
—”Holy Cooperation”
Andrew is a Sacramento native who spent more than a decade in the Northwest Cooperative movement and has experience nationally and internationally in understanding food co-ops, democratic management, organizational development and is the author of “Holy Cooperation!,” an examination of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions.
 
December 11
Pastor DeAngelo Mack
—”Youth at Risk in Meadowview”
Pastor Mack has been a youth pastor in the Meadowview area and works with Area Congregations Together on anti-gang violence efforts in the neighborhood. He was the youngest salesman in Montgomery-Ward history and now works for Apple.
 
February 12
Reverend Lindi Ramsden
—”Equal Marriage Rights for All”
Reverend Ramsden served as a Unitarian Universalist minister in San Jose for 17 years and for the past 6 years she has served as Executive Director of the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry, CA (UULMCA), coordinating justice ministry and public policy work, and also serves on the Executive Committee for CA Faith for Equality.

Professor Mitch Numark
—”The Jews of India”
Professor Numark has recently arrived at Sacramento State with his wife Yael, who grew up in the Jewish community in Mumbai.
 
April 9
Marlene Maier
—”Blessings of Israel”
Marlene has been an advocate for Israel for many years. She co-founded the Israel Action Committee at her synagogue in Palo Alto and proudly serves on the San Francisco board of AIPAC. She also helps send post-bar and bat mitzvah students to Israel with the “Gift of Israel” program, and participates in a writing group that responds to letters to local newspapers regarding Israel. Marlene serves as President of the Board of JNF in Northern California.

Liz Igra—”Supporting Holocaust Education”
Liz is at the forefront of efforts to help teachers implement curricula on the Holocaust and will speak about her own experiences and the need to expand the circle of Holocaust education.
