Our featured speaker this month is 

Lee Winkelman

Lee Winkelman is the RAC Associate Director of Organizing. He has been a Field Team organizer for the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism since 2015. In this role, he provides coaching to congregations on their social justice work, co-coordinates statewide efforts to pass policies that reflect Jewish values, and provides support for RAC national campaigns. Lee grew up in the Reform Movement in Pontiac, Michigan, and has been a community organizer since 1986 in Boston, San Salvador, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles. Lee spearheaded the social justice efforts of two synagogues as a lay leader and wrote about organizing for social justice inside and outside the Jewish community. Lee lives in Los Angeles with his wife Wendey and eighteen-year-old son Henry.  

Why Voting Rights is a Jewish Issue and What You Can Do About it.

Lee will give a brief overview of what has been done, historically, to advance voting rights, speak about why voting rights are an important Jewish issue, and what we can do in California to advance these voting rights over the coming year.
